Macklemore and Ryan Lewis’ new music video is awesome. You can tell there was a lot of thought behind the story that they are telling and a valid message.

Why is it such a problem to have same sex marriage? It is just a piece of paper that recognizes the two as a couple from the state. Oh, the land of the free.

Being able to stir such emotion with so little time when you consider the video broken up into segments. There was the youth which left the main character standing alone at a dance, with feelings of hopelessness or being lost and confused. To the declaration to his parents, who stormed out of dinner leaving the sense of abandonment and questioning faith. To the latter part of the video that left us with rejoice to see that they pursued their wants regardless because they had love.

A good song and even better video. I love that a music video can do that when done right.

I don’t know what I’ll be doing until the season returns… Probably spend a lot of time making request from brandingagameofthrones. He does some awesome work.
Any who, we have a lot of work coming up including our first trip via plane to Colorado’s Epic Beer Fest at the end of the month. Stay tuned.

I can only hope that whoever throws my bachelor party can make it as special and memorable as this. It reminds me of when I was young during the summer, hanging out with friends without a care in the world. Each day was a new adventure.

With that said, don’t fuck it up future best man.

A long weekend

Not that every weekend has to have some extraordinary story, but my MDW was rather uneventful. We all had a bunch of work to catch up on, which left us isolated from humans for most of the weekend.

A musically talented friend shared this on facebook today. The song is getting me through the day and the video was really inspiring. Thought it was very innovative for them to use a subject but still including the music element without flashing the DJ throughout the video (he’s not too flattering; but makes good music!)

On top of that Game of Thrones was had a bi-week, leaving me to search for different ways to get my fix. I found this.
It’ll have to do for now.

It’s been a long few weeks for us. We visited Scottsdale two weeks ago which was filled with desert and cacti for a beer festival hosted by our good friends at drink.eat.play. Last weekend we got to shoot a indie cover band performing live at OC Beerfest, which presented it’s own challenges but was a blast none the less. I really enjoyed our company meal at Chipotle after (you can’t go wrong with that place; get extra corn salsa).

This is the first weekend off we’ve had in three weeks and there’s still plenty for us to do. We’ve been frantically shooting interviews for Recoil and we’ve got to meet a lot of great people who love what they do.

My one regret for this weekend is that Game of Thrones will not be on thanks to Memorial Day weekend. I’ve been itching to get my fix and stumbled on these bad boys last night.

The night is dark and full of ferrets.

(From top down: Looking over designs and reviewing VFX takes and footage)

Well, we are exactly one month away from finishing Recoil!!  It’s been incredibly busy with all the departments, especially VFX.  The team of composite artists are working away on over 200 VFX shots in the film.  We have some really cool visuals in the works and I can’t wait to share the film.

While all the VFX are underway, we also have the sound team going to great lengths to design and edit all the sound fx and dialgue, that add to the world of Recoil.  Once all of our VFX are done, the sound team can take those shots and finish editing in 5.1 surround before we finally move into the sound mix in mid May.

Meanwhile, we’re prepping the footage with the editor to get ready for Color Correction, also known as DI or Color Grading.  It’s a big heavy film and a lot of files to move.  But, these last few phases are some of the most fun as we get to watch the film really come together and take its real shape.

Finally, we’ll get to exporting the film toward the end of May where we will lay it off to tape, files and dvds.

There are so many things left to do in such little time, but we’re getting there.  I have an awesome team in every department and it’s scary and  thrilling to be so close to done.

I can’t wait to get this up on the big screen and see and hear Recoil the way it is meant to be!

More to come,

E

Glad we got to be apart of this and excited to see it get finished

(click the title) For all of you who missed the second episode of the greatest series on television. Seriously debating whether I should skip a month so I can power through 3-4 episodes in one day. Watching them one by one is killing me!

The world needs more people like this man. Someone dedicated to their craft…

Also, I need to get a nice pair of shoes
